It's been grey and not quite rainy -- but never un-rainy, either -- for about the past week. As Ellen puts it, my life has come with a built-in luxury feature known as "weather-mood-coordination". I like Ellen's way of putting things; seeing drizzle like heated leather seats.
Sunday night I showed up to strike for some friends' show and got several good hours of lifting, carrying, pushing a cart, "flying" on the scaffold, tying cable loops, and playing-with-blocks. I wasn't as beat as I expected to be by the time we were done. Like shoveling snow, it felt accomplishy.
Between strike and cast party, I got to spend some quality time chatting with JWeiss.
While trying to help drag cables around, I got schooled by
ablock. But it all ended with a good exchange of apologies. Pat on the back to us both.
I retired shortly after completing my dinner, and returned to the dark, almost-drippy quiet. The White Light sculpture glowed faintly behind me to the right, as deserted as I'd hoped to find it Friday.

Monday, Gilly and I met at the Wang Center for free movie: Guys and Dolls.
I'd never seen the show before (only heard the music). It was a *lot* better than I was expecting. The songs are still kinda dumb (although undeniably catchy), but story was far from insipid. And the choreography really sucked me in. My favorite scene by far was the ballet of the craps-shooters.
I might try to back that up with more of a review some time when it isn't 1 am, but don't hold your breath. (Maybe that would address your challenge, Xanga girl?)
Enjoyed seeing her and being able to pay attention to each other, not to all sorts of fun! happy! distracting! I'm-on-stage! or gotta-run! externalities.

Sunday, I went to Arlington High School annual concert. Band, orchestra, chorale. They were all good enough that I enjoyed it for its own sake, not just because my friend invited me and she because her son is in it. I only fell asleep a little bit ;-) (hey, that's what I do Sunday afternoons)
There were two very flash Irish Step dancers. (They were listed in the program as if that was their instrument: "Blah, percussion. Nargle, flute. Her, Irish step dance." -- this amused me.)
It was a little weird when the girl's chorale did "Hey Big Spender"...
The most fun part of all of going to this was waving my hands in the air at 1:05 and saying "Class is over -- go get out!" to the collection of parents and kids still in my classroom. I really do like having them around, but this time I had to leave on the dot (to get to the concert). We'd baked challah that day, and I was feeling pretty good about how that and the rest of the day went.
Oh, and I called my mom for Mothers Day

I tried to finally do something about the hole in my pants pocket, but discovered that my sewing machine bobbin AND BOBBIN CASE are missing. So much for being proactive. I am going to cart the machine & cloth collection over to my new apartment tomorrow.

At work for the last couple of days, I've been teaching myself cool things to do with PowerPoint. **exxccellent**

Last Thursday, Cos invited me to see the Alison Brown Quartet + Joe Craven. They play bluegrass. Her 4?-yr old daughter came on stage to dance for one song. The kid stood very still and tapped her one foot. Alison told us that her daughter used to dance with lots of bopping and arm-twirling. Now she's trying to imitate her musician parents -- who don't dance, they just keep time. It was very cute, really. Before Alison told her story, I was being impressed at the kid's precision in keeping the rhythm with her foot; it was a long song.

And once again I fail to not stay up late.
