awhyzip: (Roar!)
At 6:30pm kids start arriving! As is my custom, I am collecting "tricks" which earn them a second helping of "treats".

Abraham Lincoln
Trick: swings his arm fast, so that his sleeve falls over his hand -- a "disappearing hand!"

Egyptian witch/mummy (teen)
Attempts the "helicopter" breakdance move, but we agree her skirt was getting in the way.
Hermione?
Curls her tongue into a zig-zag shape.

Sith Lord
Strikes a pose with his two lightsabers.

Spiderman
Grabs a single candy corn. His mother & I decide this counts as a Spiderman webslinging move.

Elmo
Too shy to do any Elmo trick.

Victoria, a Monkey
Is adorable and shy. Accepts a piece of candy from me, which feels like enough boundary-stretching.

Robber/Convict (teen)
Tells me there is a spider over my head.
Lots of Eyeshadow and that's about it (teen)
considers, and declines to do a trick

Pack of small kids: variously fairies, puppies, witches
standing on one foot, hopping, that sort of thing

Pack of teens: all wearing their backpacks on their fronts, to fill with candy
Not much, but one claims "I'm a trick, he's a treat". Mostly just take one a piece. Did they just come that way out of school?

Pack of teens: including Zombie, Demon, two webcomic characters (Home-something? not homestar), Cheshire cat (of some strange variety that involved a pleated black skirt with red edging)
Stage punches, speaking fluently in French, silly magic trick with own fingers, bends arm around own head (double-jointed) ... all in very good spirits.

Tigger
Sorta sings "Shavetem Mayim" when prompted by dad.

Buzzlightyear
Jumps and poses. Jumps and spins around.

Snow White, a Ninja, etc
Jokes... theoretically. "Why did the pig climb the tree? To get some apples!"

"Some Kind of Bug" (zebra-stripe arms, with orange puffy body)
Jumps up & down in place. She seems relieved not to have to give back the second candy she took before earning it.
Pirate
Says "Arrr". Repeats after me "I live in Arlington" without understanding that I mean him to say "ARRRRlington". His mom gets it, but he is still confused. Oh well.

2 cats, Katniss, 2 "nerds" (both in rainbow-striped kneesocks + Uggs --- did I miss a memo?), a Softball player
backbends, a "scorpion" yoga/dance pose, making a really loud chirping noise.

Tapers off by 8pm.

Oh wait, two more!

A Zombie and a Black Cat
One does the "Gangnam Style" galloping dance, the cat does "a Bernie" (shuffling while bent backwards, like a dead guy being walked).
The Gangnam Zombie says "Hey, I remember you, from like two years ago." when I explain about doing tricks. Heh.

A "Glitter Fairy"
She twirls in a circle while saying "Glitter! Glitter!". It's a little juvenile for a teen's trick, but that counts. She also can swing her hair in a circle, like Willa Smith.

Aannd we're all done by 8:30.  I still have candy corn left.  (It was surprisingly popular. I got nervous. It's my favorite.) We went thru very little candy, actually.
