an idea batting around
May. 28th, 2011 09:52 amI'm cleaning up the house and came across one of my little notebooks. A few pages back, it has notes for this idea:
Slush Festival
To be held in mid-March
New Englanders getting together to make the best of that bane of existence: SLUSH
Where:
Gov't Center an ideal location (very slushy on that plaza)
Davis Square likely more interest
Activities:
Vendors who might be interested:
Music:
So, what do yall think?
Slush Festival
To be held in mid-March
New Englanders getting together to make the best of that bane of existence: SLUSH
Where:
Gov't Center an ideal location (very slushy on that plaza)
Davis Square likely more interest
Activities:
- Tubs o' Slush (to stomp in)
- ... and for $5 we will warm-air blow-dry your toes after :-)
- Shoveling Race (snow/slush)
- Ice Slip (a gently-sloping ramp, narrow with padded rails)
- Find-Your-House-Keys in a Snowbank/Slushbucket game (like bobbing for apples)
- Art Project: complaint letters to Mother Nature (or the Weather Man, or the DPW)
- snow-ball toss (like bean-bag toss) Could even use white beanbags as a stand-in. What would targets be?
- Stilt-Walk (the short blocks-on-strings kind) thru deep slush... just a walk? a relay race? Pick up a ring & bring it back across?
Vendors who might be interested:
- knitters of brightly colored warm things
- suncatchers (to counteract the gloom of slush)
- yak-traks
- hot cocoa (Linda @ Best Friends Cocoa?, Taza? )
- Gilly's stilt school?
- DPW to talk about clearing sidewalks and drains
Music:
- energetic polka music?
- ENSMB?
So, what do yall think?
