New Years

Stopped in Shaw's (with Gilly) to get First Night button on the way home from Erica's end-of-channuka brunch. Turned out Jonathon was independently stopping there, from same start & destination, with same reason. He clued us --- and the surprise M.O.T. lady also in the aisle --- in to a disturbing candy discovery.

Used First Night button to see PMRP's show at the Orpheum. Great! Was amused to notice a cultural-reference-divide in the audience: The left half of the room was clearly catching more of the jokes, and finding all of them more funny.
The two sign-language interpreters were dramatic & enjoyable to watch, so I did.

After the show ran out to catch end of "Secret Music Project" at BPL. (I meant to duck out early -- but I needed to learn how would the professor save the Earth??) Just barely caught the last moments, but enjoyed muchly.

Then dinner reservations at Maggiano's. Tasty and satisfying as always. Reservations were a great idea!

And after that, I'd arranged (with surprising ease) access for a handful of us to my office building in Downtown. It has a great view of the Boston Harbor, and as long as I still work there, why not take advantage of it?

[livejournal.com profile] faerieboots was very accommodating of my wish to show off the TERRIBLE NEW ELEVATOR styling they have put in. (Replaced the reddish & fossil-dotted marble walls with diffuse-glowing white glass panels and the polished-metal indirect-lighting ceilings with overly-bright very-cool-temp light panels.) Everyone who steps into the new elevators squints.

After all that, to Cambridge for a New Year's party. I held the water-bottle for firebreathing, and was tempted to try it, too. Ha! finally a use for the nasty abandoned quarter-full 151 bottles in my bar.

New Years Day, woke up silly-early.

This weekend, three out-of-town sibs (two of them my friends, one I've yet to meet) will be in Boston. Dinner plans are coming together, and looks like I'll get to host them for the night too.

Water has decided to explode everywhere -- dripping subtly from the upstairs bathroom again (I could tell b/c my unfortunately-places toilet paper roll converted into mush); leaking (again! but differently) from below my sink; and beading beautifully but wetly on everything below the humidifier I set up for the first time last night. I had no problems with a dry throat, but hm, I may not be using that machine for extended durations again.
Would look cool for creepy/science decoration though....
