late shabbat dinner? 8:30pm
Dec. 19th, 2008 07:15 pmI'm not at shul because of the snow. Which means I will be lighting candles & having dinner at home. I got all inspired & pulled out the bread-machine I've never used; it is currently processing some dough for challah. My dad used to do this all the time, in concept it's easy ... but I hadn't realized just how much ahead-of-time I should have started it running. (He always set his in before leaving in the morning, so it was never an issue).
So... I will have fresh challah (assuming all goes well) at about 9pm.
Now, since I am at home, I can follow my OWN tradition of shabbat, which asserts that the sabbath does not begin (candles lit) until DINNER is served!
If anyone local is interested in a very late, and somewhat-makeshift, dinner, I would LOVE to have you over. Company makes shabbat more festive.
(Although the bread won't be quite ready yet, I don't think I want to wait later than 8:30 to target for dinner. So you have an hour to tromp your way over if you want! Give me a call first)
