Good biking day.
Sep. 14th, 2008 01:29 pmBiked Saturday from Jonathon's house, along the Charles River bike paths, from Memorial Drive (at Western Ave) just about all the way to Moody Street in Waltham. I enjoyed the ride a great deal.
A few years back, I had watched them installing the granite "Great Blue Heron Pillars" at some Newton entrances. Ever since then, I've been looking forward to trying those segments out.
Our destination was the Charles River Museum of Industry. They were holding an "Innovations of Yesteryear" festival, by the banks of the river. Due to a very late start and a slow ride (Jonathon was still dragging, as he conquers & disintegrates his cold) we got there as the packing up began. But it was still nifty!
After that, I took the boyfriend out to an early dinner at Solea. (mmmm, Patata bravas!)
We biked home too, and I made it the whole way up the Mt Auburn hill(s) without trouble or resorting to the 71. It was not as steep as I'd remembered!
And the weather could not have been better. It was the epitome of not-too-hot not-too-cold early autumn. Soon it will be "crisp", but now the air is still soft, humid, and calm.
