So the vacuum-a-fication of my house is complete. Homefully it is now de-allergen-ified enough that Jeraliey-Danielle, jweiss, or other dust-allergic visitors to my house will not get all snuffly.

ALSO, I was so all inspired by getting stuff done, that today I finally installed handles on the cabinets that lacked them. (For some reason, only one set of kitchen drawers had handles. Conversely, a set of cabinet doors lacked them. These are, I hasten to add, totally different-sized handles.) That was awesome.
Then I kept going and added handles to the drawers too. Ideally, I should counter-sink the screwheads, so the drawer-faces can be flush with the drawers, but I lack the tool for that. Need a larger drill bit.

Of course all this added new saw-dust to my freshly de-dust-ified back room. But luckily, I wasn't returning the borrowed vacuum cleaner to [livejournal.com profile] brass_rat until tonight. :-)

It also came in handy when I decimated a giant box of mostly-paper junk. This box had been accumulating for years, so every few layers revealed a new dust-coating.

I found (& discarded) Brandeis paystubs, lots of old recipts, a Guggenheim exhibition guide, NE Aquarium tickets, old credit card offers, and page after page of data & graphs from Kahana's lab. I kept some photos, a $1, car-repair paperwork, several large & small cloth bags & purses, an old NEJS syllabus that I now filed semi-properly, several old bank statements that I now filed fully-properly, and the lyrics to "Stacy's Mom has Got it Going On". (Actually, I turned the single-sided graphs into scrap paper and kept them too. But that doesn't count.) OOo, and I found my long-lost kangaroo hat! Astounding!
All in all, I cleared the whole file-box sized horde into less than an half-an-inch of papers worth saving. Yay! And as a result, I now have an open section in my milk-crate-constructed pseduo-bookcase.

This means that I can move the other usorted box-of-junk into the vertical side section that this box was in, making the horizontal center section available for the office-supply caddy that is currently up top. If I get the office supplies off the top, I can fit a second basket for filing binders next to the over-full one that is already there.

I'm excited to expand the binder area. I'd set up the binder system last year as part of my "by 25 I'll have control of my records" goal. It's been working pretty well, but getting clogged with old statements. Recently, I cleared out the first drawer in my file cabinets. I labeled and hung hanging file-folders, into which I transferred out all binder-contents but the current year's. I had just enough looseleaf-rings to bind all the sheafs. Those things are my next-favorite office supply after dog-ear clips. This is the first file cabinet drawer I have used properly! For filing!

The point is, yay for organization.

Even better, while I was accomplishing this, I got a call back from a Framingham company to set up an interview for Monday.

Oh, yes, and I will be leading services tonight with Adene.

Awesome. Now do you want to come to my house and de-allergen-ify it enough so that I don't get snuffly in my own place? ;)
