halloween party?
Time to begin laying the plans for our house Halloween party. As ever, it appears that my expectations & desires are the odd ones out from the rest of the group. =/ I want a big party, with lots of people, including some I don't know yet, and shared food, and drinks. I hope for showing off of costumes. Also music, but as I do not plan party playlists well, I am expecting to forgo that. And a core of three others in the house want an intimate get together of friends and movies and no drinking. I am perfectly happy to have no alcohol parties, but I really want lots of people.
Ah well. We'll discuss it tomorrow at a house dinner. If we have to vote, we have to vote, so what. I plan to propose a compromise plan of afternoon-to-evening hanging out, followed by general-invite party starting late enough to let us watch a couple movies first.
Now I regret having invited people already. I was holding off until we should decide what the actual plan was, because I was expecting this bifurcation, but then I got carried away and did invite people. I most of all don't want to have people show up, see a party that is not what they expected, and never be interested in one of my invites again. I don't think that small groups carving pumpkins and sitting on the floor is boring, but I am afraid some of my would-be guests would! Especially because the people who want their party to be a party of friends probably won't talk to my new folk.
It could all be good; I shouldn't throw my candy-floss onto the dew yet. People could take up my compromise. And a real solution is available: pick another weekend, and hold my own party then. I may not be the only one against the consensus. Maybe Jessica also wants an exciting party rather than a mellow one. And the night before will be RHPS cast party, anyway, so I may be able to get my crowd jones taken care of then.
