I did many things today, although not all of them that I'd hoped to do.

I tried out "Workave" for the first time, after reading about it in [livejournal.com profile] farwing's journal. Seems nifty so far!

I walked over & picked up a piece of small furniture from two blocks away & carried it back by hand. I took the return in 3 stages, separated by short rests, but it was no problem to do. I was pleased, because I remember much heedless furniture hauling ... but I haven't felt capable of it for a while.

I fixed the tire on my bike, all by myself, and dragged the thing back up the stairs to the garage.

I made it over to the Farmers Market (they don't open until 1 pm). Thought this would be a good opportunity to both get some produce, and some face-time with the Busa CSA guy. Unfortunately, while their stand was there, the relevant guy wouldn't be until 5:30 though. On the other hand, spoke with a young woman from Grateful Farm who was very informative (although their free-form pre-pay program would be for next year).
Oh, and I had some delicious Sweet-Potato Rolls from one of the bakeries. And absolutely up-to-snuff gluten-free cookies.

Met up with my dad, briefly. Then cruised Waltham, ogling Hardy Pond.
Waltham library to pick up some new books. (Just finished both "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" and "Gallileo's Daughter". Enjoyed them both very much.) While I was there, I did the photo-copying that was necessary for mailing in two forms I'd been wanting to do.

Spent too much time browsing in the library, though. (A known weakness). Therefore, I did not make it home in time for the bike ride I'd promised myself. (The original plan was to bike to the Farmer's Market, but when my dad called I had to change the plan to driving.)
Also didn't get the manicure I was thinking of doing, but that's no big deal. I *did* make an appointment for a haircut+color with a stylist who promises me she probably has a permanent blue.

On the way back from Waltham, in rush-traffic, I ditched my car at the first turnoff from Lake street. I was a bit slower than the cars, as I walked the rest of the way home, but not MUCH. And it was loads more enjoyable.

After getting home, I changed clothes and "went to the beach" at my local park during the last half-hour of sun. This was the one other activity I'd promised myself. I'd *meant* to just pick up books quickly, and then read them as I sunbathed. While I am glad I technically engaged in the activity, it was mostly a failure.

Oh, and I should mention, that as traffic crept down the off-ramp from Rt 2 onto Lake Street, my new waiting-to-be-read books enticed me from the passengers seat. One of the benefits of walking was that I can do it with my nose in a book! I did see a woman in the other lane who had been of weaker character than I --- alone in her car, she had a paperback open against the steering wheel & was reading aloud!

PS. I have eaten an entire tin of Hearts of Palm over the course of the day -- mmmmmmm.
