I am glad I found out about and remembered the lunar eclipse.  We stepped out to see it, once as the moon was entering the partial-eclipse, and again during totality. (It was too cold to want to do any extended viewing.)
I delayed the "view during totality" a bit too much, and ended up seeing the moon just as a sliver came out of total eclipse into partial. I think that this dramatic contrast enhanced the beauty of the sight!
Two small stars, one above one to the left, framed the gradient moon.
