Well I went to the concert. It was lots of fun. The music was good. It started out lower-energy than I was expecting. It built up a bit at the end, but overall was still a fairly middling-energy show. Not that this was bad!
About a quarter of the way thru the show, I left the main floor to go up to the balcony. This was much better, because from there I could see the singers' belly-dance moves, and could watch the percussionist.
The percussionist played some unusual instruments. One of them looked exactly like a large, miked, terra-cotta jug. Maybe it was. He also used a big gourd full of water for splashing & pouring & druming. By manipulating & drumming on a smaller gourd floating in the larger gourd, he made very interesting sounds.

In other notes: this was my second concert in a row that I remembered to bring my earplugs. Go me!
I brought no friends with me, but I did have the pleasure of running into Cindy Spungin (a Hillel staff member and friend).

And the best part of it all is that I don't have to leap out of bed tomorrow morning!
(My arrangement with my boss has me working 10-6 Thurs and Fri, in deference to an evening schedule.)
