Yum. It's what's for breakfast :-D
Yesterday I "helped Dorie stain her deck", which ended up being actually "sorta assist with glopping finish remover on the railings." The stuff works pretty fast, but there was way more old paint/stain on the wood than we'd thought (especially on the uprights). It had looked almost totally raw weathered.
So, now that's got to sit 24 hours before staining, so I can't really say I stained the porch. It's definitely one of those "surprisingly onerous homeowner-tasks."
When I made the return run to the store to pick up the remover, I didn't think to buy two bristle brushes for scrubbing with it. I was totally innocent in my intent -- just didn't think it thru -- but it did mean I got out of doing the harder part of the work. And I escaped for a long time to go look up bread pudding recipes (only to discover that there IS NO "One True Ratio" of bread:egg:milk).
Generously, Dorie nevertheless deemed me acquitted of my karmic debt. As she put it "I helped you move... and move... and move..."
