shilling for my [other] schul
Aug. 4th, 2006 02:20 pmTremont St. Tu B'Av Singles Mixer
Sunday Aug. 6
7:00 - 9:30 pm
Calendar Entry
Tu B'Av, the fifteenth (or full moon) of the month of Av, is
traditionally considered a matchmaking occasion and/or an auspicious
time for meeting one's beloved. Help us make this tradition a reality!
We'll provide wine and cheese, other snacks and beverages, some
informal icebreaking activities, and a relaxed environment for
mingling. This year, we introduce a new twist: two age divisions,
21-34 and 35+! (Those in the borderlands, 31-38, will be granted dual
access.)
We also need a few volunteer staffers from those who are NOT single or
looking! Setup will start at 6:30pm; we need helpers to set up, staff
the door, and tabulate the matches during cleanup (last time this was
apparently a total blast). Contact Erica (erica@alumni.brandeis.edu)
if you'd like to help.
FAQ:
Cost: $12 ($8 students). $2 discount with your advance RSVP by 5pm
Friday, August 4. Additional $2 discount to dues-paid TBS members!
Contact Erica (erica@alumni.brandeis.edu) with your RSVP or additional
questions.

FAQ:
- "How many people are coming? What's the gender balance?" Last time
we had close to 80 participants and a pretty even gender split. Of
course, the more people we get, the better it will be for everyone.
Please forward this to any and all of your single Jewish friends --
you never know what could happen! - "How does it work?" On arrival, each person gets an ID number on
their nametag, and a request card. Throughout the evening, as you
mingle, write down the ID # and first name of anyone you'd like to get
to know better. When the evening is over, we'll tabulate the results,
and if anyone you requested also requests you, you have a match! We'll
send you the contact info of all your matches, and send yours to them.
The rest is up to you. - "Do I have to be Jewish to attend?" While we don't check anyone's
certification at the door, we do request that all participants be
Jewish-identified. - "Yeah, but this is only for straight folks, right?" This is, of
course, Tremont Street! Unlike most dating events, we do not segregate
based on gender. You can write down anyone who interests you. If (and
ONLY if) that person writes you down too, we'll connect you.
