Best Buy report
Mar. 1st, 2006 04:44 pmI went to the Best Buy to exchange the CD player my Dad gave me for my birthday. He had given the slip to me with it, since he admitted he wasn't sure if it was the kind I'd really wanted. He found a "retro" style 3-CD changer that included a turntable. This was very cool -- but unfortunately did not also include a tape player.
I have more cassettes than vinyl, so I said thank you but that I would exchange it. Also it had a cherry-wood that I for some reason didn't really groove on.
( True Confession time )
So I returned the CD+record player and got me a CD+tape player. They don't sell any that are just RADIO + TAPE -- that's really all I wanted. Ah well. I checked online and there was a nice enough one with all the features I'd decided I wanted: remote control, radio, tape, bonus for multiple CDs -- which was even $30 cheaper than the CD+record player one. I could put the extra store-credit towards the new telephone I planned to also pick up!
But, once I was actually there, I succumbed to the "gift-certificate" trap. I bought a more expensive one than what I should have got, just because I could subtract the pre-paid for portion out and say "but look at all I'm getting but only paying $30 for!"
For my extra $30 (or $60 if you look at it that way), I got:2 more CDs (5-CD changer vs 3) which I don't really care about; the very nice feature that the currently-playing CD is not interruped if you want to change a non-playing CD; likewise, I can open & close the CD drawers even when the player is in non-CD mode (always annoys me when I can't) and the one that sold me: DIGITAL readout of the current radio station's frequency.
And two phones. Meaning my landline is now functional. (Junker of a cordless I was using before shall be firmly retired to the trash where it long since belongs grrrrr)
